Is your vessel compliant with the IMO’s cyber security resolution?
In January 2021, IMO Resolution MSC.428(98) came into force. Commercial vessels over 500GT are now expected to provide evidence that reasonable and appropriate measures have been taken to protect themselves from cyber attack.
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) considers compromised shipping vessels as a direct threat to critical national maritime systems and enforces the international requirement for a vessel to hold a cyber security plan and conducts spot checks on vessels wishing to use its ports. It’s only a matter of time before more countries and authorities follow suit.
Maritime Cyber Baseline has been launched specifically to enable commercial maritime organisations prove compliance with the IMO cyber security resolution.
